Literacy Lift-Off
Every great project begins with a great story. Literacy Lift Off is a book-inspired makerspace where children transform stories into hands-on creations using art, engineering, technology, digital media, and design. Every two weeks, the class explores one carefully selected children's book. Together, we'll discover new vocabulary, memorable characters, exciting settings, and big ideas before bringing the story to life through a featured STEAM project. Depending on the book, children may: - Design a LEGO® stop-motion movie - Create their own Pixicade video game - Build an interactive Scratch coding project - Produce a short film or digital media project - Compose an original soundtrack - Sew a plush character - Construct detailed dioramas - Design engineering challenges - Build creations in our makerspace
